One thing to expect: a Windows warning — and that's normal

Gongfu Timer is a small, free project that isn't code-signed yet, so the first time you run the installer Windows SmartScreen shows a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. It's completely expected and safe — it just means Windows doesn't recognise the publisher yet. To continue:

1. On the blue screen, click More info.
2. Then click Run anyway.

That's a one-time step — after it installs, it opens normally.

Blocked with only “OK” and no “Run anyway”?

Some newer Windows 11 PCs have Smart App Control switched on — a stricter guard that fully blocks apps it doesn't recognise, showing only OK / Learn more (no “Run anyway”). This happens because Gongfu Timer isn't code-signed yet — it's an honest limitation on our side, not something wrong with your PC. Your options:

• Best: install the Microsoft Store version (coming soon) — Store apps are always trusted by Smart App Control, no warnings.
• A code-signed build that Smart App Control accepts is on the way.
• You can turn Smart App Control off (Windows Security → App & browser control → Smart App Control), but it's a one-way switch that needs a Windows reset to turn back on — so we wouldn't recommend it just for a tea timer.
